I thought I knew how to party, but it took a couple of kids from the kootenays to show me how its really done. Eddie (Remeddie), Alex (Shift), Rich, and myself left Trail on a 24 hour marathon road trip to Soul Driven in Kamloops. When I say marathon I mean “no” sleep. I don’t think I have ever done so much in such a short period of time. Word to Alex and his spicy Thai dinner at Earls. He said he liked it hot. It seemed that the waitress gave him a little more than he could handle. : ) Props to Kelowna Earls, man that place is awsome! And if you are ever in Kelowna, I sugest you check out the Cheetah! Just ask Eddie, he was one satisfied customer. And word to Rich and his mad driving skills. And by the way, you still hold the belt. After multiple car chases, dog dodging, and a run in with a Cheetah we somehow found ourselves in Kamloops.
The DJ’s were really good at Soul Driven. There was a nice mix on the main stage all night. They had a little something for everyone, which is good. When there is a separate room for the different music types, then people generally don’t branch out to the other rooms. I think it is good when the crowd hears music they don’t normally dance to, because then they learn to appreciate a broader range of music. Jamie Invader definitely had a lot of energy on stage. He was going off to the music just as much as the kids were. He played some awsome hard house tracks. Smoothie and Viberaider both had good sets. I was on the dancefloor all night. I was really happy with the music and so was everyone else I talked to. Most kids there only left the dancefloor to have a short rest, or to get water. Then rest of the time they were out there cutting it up.
There weren’t as many people as I was expecting but it didn’t matter. Because everyone there was on the dance floor it made it seem like more. Props to Smoothie for getting the girls to wear his shirts. On the front they say “Smoothie” on the back they say “I like it hard” That’s a sweet design man! I was surprised how many kids from home (Trail, Castlegar, Nelson) came out to this party. The venue and music were great, but the lighting and visuals were awesome!! There was a small problem with artificial smoke that left two of our men down in the morning. They sounded like they were about 85 and on their death bed. It was funny!! The general feeling in the morning besides the burning desire to sleep was that we all had a hell of a lot of fun.
