Dj icons Sven Vath and Richie Hawtin will be coming out with a mix cd come October 28. The cd, Cocoon Club, Ibiza: The Sound of the Third Season, encapsulates Cocoon’s third year of success.
The objective of this cd is to emulate the Cocoon vibe. Not only will it feature favourite tracks but it will include conversations and sound bites so to give the listener an idea of what Cocooon was like.
The album will feature tracks by Technasia, Sven, Swayzak, Slam, and more.
Cocoon was founded by Sven Vath in 2000. It was partly a response to the takeover of the White Isle by the British (both the djs and clubbers). Sven wanted to “bring back a unique glamour and European-ness to the island.” Sven wasn’t completely successful at ousting the British influence: 2001 saw Carl Cox as the Coccoon resident. This year the club night was headed by Sven himself and, ‘unofficially’, Richie Hawtin. Diego Ro-K, Green Velvet, Felix Da Housecat and John Acquaviva were also headliners this year.
Cocoon was held every Monday at Amnesia.
