There may be another Big Beach Boutique this year.
According to Norman Cook, almost everyone he has talked to (including the local residents) want Big Beach Boutique to return come summertime. Fatboy Slim seems very keen in organizing this event but said he won’t unless he can guarantee safety to everyone and keep it free.
The best way to guarantee everyone has a safe time is to know how many people will attend. During the planning stage last year, only 60,000 people were expected to show up but chaos erupted when 250,000 kids actually showed up. This created a lot of chaos and some extreme medical emergencies. At least 100 people were injured at the party. As well, there were two deaths reported the following day but they actually were unrelated to the party itself.
Though the easiest way to limit crowd is to make people pay, Norman Cook said that he isn’t interested in holding such an event. The current idea is to issue a certain number of tickets so security and the medical team can be suitably prepared.
