The Winter Music Conference is set to run from March 18 – 22. This year it is expected that more than 7,200 music industry professionals and enthusiasts will be travelling to Miami Beach, Florida.
The WMC, now in its 18th year, is hailed as one of the most important music industry events of the year as it brings executives from major and independent record labels, publishers, promoters, managers, agents, artists, DJs, remixers, producers, radio and video programmers, retailers, internet companies, equipment hardware and software manufacturers, as well as media from around the world.
The WMC has proved to be an invaluable week for those interested in electronic music. This is especially so for DJs, producers and artists as there are many events which help them acquire experience, get exposure and refine their technique.
There will be seminars and panels held on a variety of topics such as music, technology, legal, media, and radio. The workshops available are on remixing and editing. In these workshops the individuals will be able to learn from top producers, programmers and remixers. There will also be a Demo listening master class. Demos will be heard and then the performer will receive an honest critique from individuals from record labels, publishers and A&R. Additionally, there is a DJ Spin-Off which gives aspiring DJs the chance to show off their talent to a usually unreachable audience.
The night will be as eventful as the day. The International Dance Music Awards will be held during on March 20. As well, there will be Nightclub Showcases each evening.
One of the larger events being held as part of the WMC is the 5th annual Ultra Music Festival. It will take place March 22nd from 11:00 01:00 (of the following day). Approximately 40,000 people are estimated to attend the Ultra Music Festival.
