Although not your typical DJ who’s usually stocked with blockbuster originals and remixes, DJ AM (Adam Goldstien) created his own version of show stopping authenticity. The sudden news of his death in a New York apartment (aged 36) last Friday has shocked many New York and Los Angeles fans. With a huge celebrity following including John Mayer, Paris Hilton, Jim Carrey, Leonardo DiCaprio and Ashton Kutcher, DJ AM was the go to guy for creating memorable nights. After his brief 90’s stint with Crazy Town and a highly publicized drug problem and attempted suicide, Adam soon decided to follow his dream to become a DJ.
He managed to break the drug habit and was sober for almost 10 years, Adam soon started to gain a huge following showcasing to the L.A. and N.Y.C. scene his ability to consistently throw the best party’s in town. He created a legacy in North America that few can aspire too. Whether it’s dealing with celebrity engagements (Mandy Moore), Music collaborations (Blink 182, Jay-Z, Steve Aoki) or his internal struggles after surviving a plane crash in 2008, you have to admire Adam’s personal influence on the L.A. and N.Y.C. party scenes. He will be truly missed among fans and artists alike.
