Sennheiser have long been the leading brand in headphone technology and style. Since 1945 they have been the pioneers of many Headphone and Mic technologies, from aviation headphones in the 80’s (NoiseGrad 1987) to the go-to brand for pro DJ’s and sound engineers around the world. So what’s next on the cards for Sennheiser? Talking with there German HR I was leaked some very interesting news, Sennheiser has teamed up with another German heavy weight for their next line of custom headphones. It got me thinking? Becks? BMW… Hugo Boss? What could it possibly be? You guessed it – Adidas.

What could Adidas bring to Sennheiser you may ask? The answer is… (If it is indeed possible) more STYLE – more accurately; street style. We all know Adidas, and what they do; they are basically the definition of street style and class. So as you could imagine I was incredibly excited about what they could achieve. Nothing prepared me for what they would do.

We all know Sennheiser HD-25 -1 II… if you are anywhere near a half decent DJ they are using these black, lightweight but high quality DJ headphones. What could Adidas bring to this already near-perfect design? The answer is – Colour and basically; all round awesome-ness.

I received the package thanks to Sennheiser Germany; at first look I am thinking… they sent me some sneakers? The packaging is a shoebox, coloured with a wicked bright blue, with the Adidas stripes down the side. I open the box to reveal a pair of the sweetest HD-25-1 II I have ever seen. They’re coloured with the same wicked blue, from the earpieces to the padding to the cord; and of course there is the addition of the iconic Adidas 3-stripes. It’s a very simple but very effective design.

And of course, from my last Sennheiser Headphone review – “This is a phenomenal piece of DJ equipment, no wonder it’s the most widely accepted DJ tool.” The sound quality is second to none for the price, and the added style to the headphones will definitely set you apart from any other DJ’s. Pick these up and you will be the talk of the town. From the low basses to high hats, the quality and functionality is amazing, very, very crisp.

“We tried to make ‘festival weapons,’ so when we play them, it’s like throwing a million hatchets into the audience” – Jesse F. Keeler, one half of DJ/production duo MSTRKRFT, March 17th 2009.

I catch up for a quick chat with JFK from Canadian dance music duo MSTRKRFT just before they kick off the inaugural (to Australia) Creamfields festivals later this month. We talk Synths, Vegemite and Rum… Australians and Canadians just know how to get along! Also thanks to the readers who sent in their questions. It’s short but ever so sweet.

MC: What is you favourite live synth?

JFK: Roland sh-101

MC: First song ever remixed?

JFK: Panthers – thank me with your hands

MC: The hottest dance song right now?

JFK: Congorock – ‘babylon’

MC: Current personal favorite dance song?

JFK: Blende – fluttery will get you nowhere

MC: Favorite song of all time?

JFK: Nas – the world is yours

MC: You are coming down for Creamfields, but you were also here for other festivals late last year, you must like Australia?

JFK: Opposite seasons? Vegemite? Bunderburg ginger beer and rum? Yes.

MC: Which artist could you say made you want to get into music?

JFK: A combination of my Dad, Albert king and James brown

MC: What non-dance music is currently leaking into your IPod?

JFK: The new Dillinger escape plan album

MC: Knowledge you can pass on to amateur DJ/Musicians?

JFK: Work on your shit 24hrs a day, every day… everyone else is. Ignore your family and loved ones… they will hate you eventually anyway. Only own enough clothes to fill a suitcase… you’ll never wear the stuff you leave at home when you’re actually home.

Underground Melbourne Producer/DJ/Musician/All-round-good-guy has blown us all away again! With the release of his new single – ‘Sometimes’ (which is off his yet to be named/released debut album) already creating a lot of buzz, we just can’t wait for the Album! As you may have noticed from our home page link, Miami Horror’s – ‘Sometimes’ has already hit number TWO on the Hype Machine’s Most Popular Tracks… Things are certainly about to heat up.

Spearheaded by the young and talented Benjamin, who you may remember from his, Breakthrough Summer Remix of ‘This Heart Attack ‘ by Aussie rockers Faker. Also who could forget the 2008 EP ‘Bravado’ featuring the hit song ‘Don’t Be On With Her’. Supported by a sensational trio of musician’s, with Benjamin on Keys, Bass and Sequencing, Josh on Guitar and Vox, Dan on Synth and Bass, Aaron on Drums and Sampler. Miami Horror is getting prepared for another assault on clubs and festivals around Australia.

Although very tight lipped I spoke exclusively to the man himself, he had some very interesting things to say about the new album:

Tell me about the new album and single?

Ben - Well josh the Guitarist/Vocalist got heavily involved about half way through the creative process adding a lot of guitar to the tracks. We’ve ended up making an album that could be a completely different artist to what Miami Horror is known for. No tracks were made specifically for the club at all.

Not specifically for the club?

Ben – Well after getting a little disenchanted with where club music was heading I decided to go in another direction, besides some of the first singles for the album have taken a turn towards some of our bigger recent influences.

They are?

Ben – Well I love Air, Pink Floyd and Supertramp! We are creating a sound that is new and fresh for us, we wanted to create something we didn’t feel anyone was exactly doing, while still tying the music in with our original direction.

You had some awesome guest artists on the EP anything new?

Ben – There are some collaborations with ‘The Golden Filter’ on a 60’s influenced dance track and also with vocalist Alan Palomo from NEON INDIAN and Vega.
