About this artist

AUTOBIOGRAPHY profile

C+C Music Factory was originally created by Robert Clivillés, who, after creating “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)” in the recording studio, and then group Trilogy passed on the song, shared the concept with his late creative partner, David Cole, in 1990. Together, they developed a groundbreaking musical platform designed to introduce both established yet forgotten artists, and emerging unknown guest artists to audiences around the world.

The name C+C Music Factory represents Clivillés & Cole, while “Music Factory” reflected their ability to blend dance, pop, house, hip-hop, and R&B into a distinctive sound while showcasing a variety of performers.

Their breakthrough hit, “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now),” became a global phenomenon, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and launching a string of international hits, including “Here We Go,” “Things That Make You Go Hmmm…,” and “Just a Touch of Love.”

C+C Music Factory earned worldwide acclaim, receiving 35 major music industry awards, including five American Music Awards, five Billboard Music Awards, and two MTV Video Music Awards, while also earning a Grammy Award nomination for Best New Artist.

More than three decades later, the legacy of C+C Music Factory continues to inspire artists and audiences worldwide. At its core was Robert Clivillés’ original vision: to unite people through music while creating a platform that celebrated creativity, collaboration, and talent.
