The worlds highest paid DJ Paul Oakenfold cracked America by relentlessly touring and sometimes slashing his fees to zero, he told the Guardian this week.
I asked about DJing in Anchorage (Alaska) but the only local promoter said he couldnt afford me, said Oakenfold. He was amazed when I did the gig for just my air fare and hotel, but I went, I played to 250 people and I loved it.
The definitive superstar jock is rumoured to earn up to 100,000 (US$140,000) per gig for major events and festivals, while his cost-cutting approach has seen him sell 500,000 mix CDs Stateside.
